If you are organizing a Thanksgiving party in the study room, there are a plethora of games you may have the kids play that'll be fun but also instructional and helpful in teaching the postulate of being grateful. Be cautious not to overdo the turkey facet of Thanksgiving. Some youngsters forget that it's about more than the turkey. Playing some fun games can help them remember the object of Thanksgiving. Fill the bag with a few cards, each with something on it. Some will say "Thanksgiving" while others will have a word or image of other stuff.
Some of those other stuff could be autos, food, garments, for example. Have the kids sit in a circle and draw a card out of the bag. If they get a card which has a picture or word on it aside from "Thanksgiving" they should talk about why they're thankful for that item and why others should be also. For instance, if the kid select "shoes", they would express how grateful they're that they have shoes so their feet stay clean and they do not get cold in winter and they stay unhurt when they're walking. Depending on the ages of the youngsters, this could be an easy reply or something a touch more concerned after they understand the idea better.
With some help from the teacher or a parent, they'd even note that in several parts of the planet, folks do not have autos ( or shoes ) and they are fortunate to have all of these things. If the kid selects a card that announces "Thanksgiving" they should come up with an original concept about something that they are grateful for. Attempt to steer them away from stuff like "Playstation" but instead steer them toward stuff like "my parents" and "my house and my room".
For some thinking fun, have kids do a word find with Thanksgiving words. Provide them with an inventory of words related to Thanksgiving. They may be "Thanksgiving", "Cornucopia", "Mayflower", "Turkey", for example. Then they must find words contained in those words. So, if the word is "Mayflower", they would find words like "lay", "flower", "flow" and such like. "Thanksgiving" might turn into "thank", "sing", and "an".See which kid can find the most words in the list of words you provide them. Try and challenge the youngsters to find words inside the words that relate back to Thanksgiving. The old memory game is always fun and can be employed for Thanksgiving too.
Have the youngsters sit in a circle and have someone start the game by pronouncing, "At Thanksgiving, I love to eat" and then finish it with one food item. So that kid might say, "At Thanksgiving, I really like to eat turkey", and the following kid will say, "At Thanksgiving, I really like to eat turkey and cranberry sauce." the subsequent kid would go on with, "At Thanksgiving, I love to eat turkey and cranberry sauce and green beans." Each child will carry on till the list becomes so long, somebody is certain to forget an item. You may either star the game over or keep going till most are out but one kid.
